They can usually do it two ways, either using the time-stamp in the site database, or by using the web server hit logs. :sneaky2:

However, most of the the site scripts do not do this automatically for them. Not sure about this specific site, but I know the script Big-Earn uses (YourOwnBux v3.x) does not.

So, it is up the site admin's database skills, php skills, or ability to analyze the web server's log. Depending on the site settings, it may be possible to use the web server's logs to analyze a person's habits for the entire duration of their membership, if the admin really wanted to... (FYI, I keep logs indefinitely -- one of my sites gets over a million visits a month now, and I have the logs back to its launch in 1998).

Does this mean you will definitely get caught if you cheat? No. :?

Most smaller PTC admins probably have a hard enough time just getting the scripts installed and working, and probably don't have a clue how to query the database or extract pertinent info from the logs (which could be huge). But that does not mean they can't learn or hire someone to retroactively go over the logs when users try to cash out. Or they can pay someone to write a script, or modify the existing site scripts, to do this for them, automatically.

Just keep in mind that the site stores the time-stamp of when you last accessed each of the ads, and the web server stores the entire URL request. So, a 'geek' site admin will be able to detect any 'successful' visits that are under the specified duration (i.e. javascript or GreaseMonkey trick), and he will be able to detect any incorrectly formatted URLs (i.e. '0' trick).

Your gamble is wether the admin is enough of a geek, or willing to pay a geek, to catch you... :p

Keep in mind that this is for detecting people that are 'cheating' by bypassing the timer (or other means). This does not apply to bots that allow the timer to expire normally. There are methods to detect such bots, but again most sites do not by default, so it is up to the admin to figure out how to do it, or pay someone to do it for him...
