Default Ban HYIPs?

How about not allowing people to post links to "HYIP"-type scams? There are a lot of new people who come into forums like this and think that they are actually investing their money into a legit program, and end up losing out big time. HYIP sites are not investments, they're not games, they're not gambling, they are straight up illegal in many parts of the world.

If you don't know what a HYIP is, here is some info: High-yield investment program - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thoughts?

Why should we ban someone who doesn't know what they're investing into is a scam :? I don't think it's right to ban someone because they're naive.

i agree with the point that was brought up. also it wouldnt suprise me if some of the site owners r postin their links here to draw the new members in that dont know ne better and unfortunately these people fall for it because they dont know ne better....if i see ne of these links bein posted i will be deletin them asap.....if doom thinks they should be allowed then i wont but i have personally been ripped off by sites like this and its a very serious problem....almost worse then ptc sites.

I'm not talking about banning people, I'm talking about not allowing links to HYIP sites. A new rule.

The thing is, HYIPs are profitable if you know when to invest and when to withdraw.

Besides, I only do HYIPs that accept Paypal and Alertpay, because I can easily dispute the money if it turns into a scam. However, most of the HYIP scams don't leave money in their PP/AP accounts.

I've personally lost $150 in HYIPs, but also earned $30.

Looks like it's worked out great for you then... lol This is EXACTLY my point! I know they can be profitable if you know what you're doing, but most people who get into these programs don't know what they really are.

Maybe if it's an HYIP, require the poster to put a disclaimer in the post?

My opinion is that people who get scammed in HYIPs just learned themselves a valuable lesson (albeit the hard way)... I used autosurf sites a while back and doubled my money (of course the sites I was using went down, which I fully expected) so there is some luck involved... it's like gambling in my opinion. It's not always a total lost cause with the right mindset...
