haha, that's funny I was thinking about saying something similar.

But as for a feedback system for trades and such the iTrader system seems to work well. The only problem with a iTrader is that you have to specify what feedback can be left for, so you don't dillute the value of the feedback. Most forums do it by a total value of the goods in the transaction, but in this case there may not be a monetary value attached to a service that is exchanged.

ITrader is not supported with the current version of vBulletin we are using. As for the rep system itself:

I support the rep system 100%. I do also think adding the thanks might be nice. It saves spam posts which people just say thanks. I do admit I have had the same problem as you but just live with it. Remember that rep from people with a negative reputation have no weight to it at all.
The rep system is good though for many reasons: it, for the most part, shows how trustworthy a person is; it also is a great incentive for people to act smart; and it keeps idiots out. Sure the person who has -10 rep can - rep you back but guess what, it doesn't matter it does nothing to you. Your 100 rep will deduct much more points than a person even with near 10 could ever dream of. The rep system has worked great so far, I do not see a reason to remove it at all.

My personal experience: I was selling a Torrentleech invite. I saw them going for about $30 each on ebay. Due to me not wanting to hastle with ebay I put them on cheatingnetwork for $20. Someone goes and posts:
Quote:

Now, as this is thread crapping and I am a moderator he is lucky he wasn't baned that time. Instead I just replyed to him and proved my prices were fair with a list of closed ebay auctions for much more. Though this wasn't too important in a sense, all the people who were offering to buy before all decided to back out. Luckaly, I got gamerdudesnow to ebay it for me so I ended up getting more than $20 for it. Now, back on topic, look what I got in my rep:
Quote:
wow. just letting people know not to get ripped off by you. New users were selling for $5 and they went first
(no screen shot because I'm on a different computer and mspaint crashes the second I open it)
Great I got a - rep for asking a guy to not thread crap... well you can guess I gave him a nice - rep which put a pretty large chunk in his rep.

Dunno if it's been said, but what about a 50 or 75 post minimum to rep, or have your reps count?
I know it wont stop the older members from abusing the rep system, but it will cut back on the trolls -repping in revenge...

Then why are people trusting members that have more rep to trade? That is what the problem is with rep, we should just remove the rep system and add Itrader or thanks. It would make trading with people so much easier.

The thanks system would be pretty much the same thing, right???

You may not use the BST section, but everyone else definitely does!

I think iTrader would be great, but I don't think the thanks system would change much

Edit: nvm, itrader isn't supported with this or something; saw slashmolders post

The only "problem" with the rep system is that people rage when they get -rep'd.

The button says "karma" for a reason. You have to be pretty careful when you decide to -rep someone. Sure, you can dish it out, but you have to be damn sure that you can take a -rep in return if the person decides to do just that. What goes around comes around...
