Can anybody give me some pointers on how to do this, and where i can find a good version of linux that will run on my 32-bit comp with 512mb ram. (i use windows xp pro if that matters) i'd appreciate any useful info also i +rep for worthy posts ha thanks |

Reputation: 21 ![]() cBay Rating: | Download Ubuntu, burn it to a CD. Then pop it back in to your computer, it'll let you install Ubuntu "inside" of Windows. And you reboot and choose Ubuntu. If you don't like it, uninstall it like a regular program. |

Reputation: 21 ![]() cBay Rating: | ubuntu is the most user friendly linux install with wide support for all types of hardware and supports minimum requirements. simply put overall its top notch for beginners. do as most have suggested and download the ubuntu iso and burn it to disc, pop it in your system and reboot, making sure that your system is setup to run from cd. this allows you to play with the linux OS without having to worry about messing up any files on the windows xp installation. this also allows you to bypass having to download vmware or virtual box to try anything out. when you have decided you no longer wish to play with linux or you wish to return to windows xp simply reboot with the cd out and back to the life of window in which you came. ![]() |
