Default Use COMMON SENSE in transactions

Alright, so, for anyone who hasn't realized it yet, CNuke was an April Fools joke. My FS thread selling CNuke-botted accounts was to elaborate on the joke.

However, the amount of PMs I got from people eager to buy the accounts shocked me. All of the PMs (and IMs...) I got were from people who honestly thought the accounts were real. One PM is funny, two is slightly disturbing. Six warrants a thread.

USE COMMON SENSE IN SALES/TRADES HERE.

With as many PMs as I got wishing to buy a fake accounts, even when it was BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that it was a joke, given the posts in my thread, it's no wonder so many people have been getting scammed here lately. People, COME ON. If it's an amazing deal, it's likely a scam. Really, there isn't any better way to put that. For the most part, you can look at a member and tell whether they are legit or not. For the most part, anyone who has a ton of posts and has been here for a long time (Note: 200 posts isn't a lot. 1000 is about where I'd draw the line) is probably safe to do business with. When you start dealing with these people with lower amounts of posts and a more recent join date, you really have to be careful. And DO NOT judge somebody on their reputation. You see all these threads where people hold contests or give things away -- things that cost them no more than a few bucks at the most. Those threads get people a ton of reputation for absolutely nothing, and then when they make a FS/FT thread, then people get the idea that they are legit just because they have a good amount of rep. Not necessarily true.

If you don't research the item you want to buy, you'll get scammed (Hey, all you people who PM'd me asking to buy CNuke accounts: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?! First off, the bot was public. Bot your own. Second, had you EVER heard of CNuke before? And third, it was April 1st (or shortly after, but still, think about it.). What were you thinking?).

If you don't research the other person you're dealing with, you'll get scammed.

If you think rep means a person is definitely legit, you'll get scammed.

Use your brain, people. If a deal is really good, it's likely it's a scam.

Personal opinion here, but I'd try to avoid doing business with newer members as much as possible. We've banned multiple scammers in the past, but people do end up getting back under a different IP, and we don't always catch them right away.
