Reputation: 18 ![]() | Not really, it would be a "divide and conquer" algorithm. Recursively divide the board into a smaller problem and then solve that one problem, then keep expanding until you're at the size of the board you want to solve. How do I know this? Because I had to write a program to solve that damn peg game at Cracker Barrel as a final project in one of my classes. It can be done, but the complicated part of solving minesweeper is that if the mine is in the first block you choose, you've already lost the game. |

Reputation: 18 ![]() | Pretty much, and the page says NOTHING about making a bot. The prize is for actually writing an acceptable solution to the game that MUST be published and then ACCEPTED by the mathematic community within two years. Ha. |
