Got rid of my Dell desktop of 10+ years for a BlackBook 2.0GHz. Brand new for $350. Ba da ba ba ba, I'm lovin it!

Can't think of one program I miss for windows since everything I need is made for Mac. If not I just use parallels to run Windows.

anyways, I have a macbook pro, and recently bought a Lenovo S10e as a gift for someone. I immediately formatted the S10e (loaded with pre-installed bloatware). Why did I chose OS X instead of windows? Because the recipient won't have to worry about viruses as much, and it won't fall on me to fix up their mistakes. Why not linux? Because they're not tech oriented.

Are the prices too high for a mac? Yes. I could have gotten a much better laptop for cheaper than my macbook pro, but I loved the look, and OS X > windows, except for games and bots, and for that, I've got VMWare Fusion. I know I'm gonna get flamed with "You paid more for looks and security, lolwut." but it's a personal preference. Just like everyone likes different things in a girl, or in music, everyone likes different things when it comes to laptops + desktops.

Definitely yes.

Before college, I only knew a few people people who had Mac. And they were all tools.

Now that I'm in college, for the most part, every person that has a Mac is still a tool. Tons of people have them, and the few people I know that use a computer for anything besides checking their email and getting on Facebook all have some sort of PC. It's true -- Macs are basically big, expensive toys for new college kids who need a laptop. Everyone jumps on the Mac bandwagon, and Apple gets a giant boner over their profits. Sure, Macs might be great for the average computer noob, but for anyone who actually wants functionality instead of just something nice to look at, a PC is a necessity.

I agree, there are a lot of college tools that have them and really do not need it other than the fact their folks bought it for them. As for functionality I am curious what do you mean?

Functionality = Damn near anything. Without bootcamp, Apple wouldn't sell more than a single Mac a day.

Still didn't answer my question. What are you trying to get out of a Windows machine, other than games, you cannot get out of a Mac?

It is a good os for noobs, but not the best for a poweruser. In fact my old math teacher thought the mac os is MILES ahead of anything windows ever came out with, nobody learned anything from him.

Macs are fine for a laptop because they are small and portable thats why most people in collage use them, its a pain to lug around a fucking 5lb acer or hp if you know what I mean but Macs as a desktop are fucking garbage.

mac osx is a flavor of unix, not linux. It is also extremely simplified. Few people also know that the mac os is much more vunerable then windows.

i love macs! if i had a million dollars i would buy one but i dont so i stick to a pc. frankly as cool as they are they are very expensive

so in conclusion no they do not suck they are just very expensive and out of the price range of normal people

now to go to bed i feel like im writting like a 5th grafer
