I have two of them that have the same exact problem, they can't read the disks, anyone know how I could fix them?

Most likely its just the Optics. Lots of sites you can buy optics they cost like 42 bucks, and they include a guide.

That happened to my little brothers PS2 a while ago, I think I had to take it apart and tighten some screw on the laser thing

That happened to my first PS2 i bought off eBay. Me and my dad opened it, cleaned it tightened screws and whatnot. Ended up sending it back to the company. As long as the void label is still on it they should fix it

If you have a warranry send it back in. If not, change out the optics of dvd-rom drive.

the warranty ended a long time ago I think, would you know how to explain that 2+2=over9000 cause I have no idea what that means or where I would find that

You should buy a new laser considering that's probably what the problem is.
Buy the one that is right for your model of PS2. Search google for instructions on installing it.

You could try. Then there's the option of throwing it in a toilet and getting and xbox (if you dont have one already)

thats the main reason I want to fix it. I have 2 working PS2s and 2 broken ones, the working ones are the slim kind. I want to sell the two broken ones, I have $80 saved and need $220, I figure if I fix the PS2s for free somehow I can make $75 each or maybe $100 each. I wonder how much GameStop would buy them for?

Gamestop wouldn't give you much for a working one let alone a broken one. I suppose you could try to fix them by opening them up cleaning the lens gently and making sure all the screws are tight.

Shit 4 PS2's? I only have 2. Haha why didnt you just buy an xbox with that money in the first place?

they were all gifts. I got one for Christmas the year they came out. Then it broke so my mom bought me a slim one. Then my sister asked for one for her birthday and then my dad got me a broken one on Ebay for xmas for his house. The 360 was either not out, too expensive, or my parents have never heard of it and still probably havent.

well i just checked for you and i was surprised. Refurbished Ps2's are going for 80$. So i figure you'll get around $30 - $60. But thats just a guess. Id wait until they have one of them +$15 trade-in deals.

Not necessarily. Gamestop is filled with a bunch of money whores, and they'll probably only give you 30 - 60 like i said. But even so its still 20 extra bucks yours making.
