Actually, using Cheat Engine is so much easier on most flash games. There are 2 methods, if one doesn't work, try the other. If neither work, then the cheat engine can't find the address for the thing you want to change, which means the variable is hidden somewhere.

The 8x method

This is the most common method of flash games.
  1. Open up the game you want to play and play the first level or get a score and press pause (if there is one). Games that do not have a pause button or a "click here to continue" are rather difficult to hack.
  2. Once you get a score, get a calculator. Put in that value and multiply it by 8.
  3. Go to Cheat Engine. Click the flashing button the the top left and find the web browser you're using. Usually it will be located near the bottom.
  4. Leave everything like it is (Exact value, 4 bytes), and put in the result from the calculator into the value box.
  5. After it has finished scanning, don't do anything more to the cheat engine and go back to the game.
  6. Get a different score than the first or complete the second level. Put this value into the calculator and multiply by 8 as well.
  7. Back to the Cheat Engine. Put this new result into the textbox and press Next Scan.
  8. If there is more than one result, repeat steps 6-7 until there is only 1. In some cases, there may be 2 addresses linked to that value.
  9. After you have found the address(es), select all and click the red down arrow.
  10. You can enter in a description by double clicking it, like "score" or "money" or w/e.
  11. Go back to the calculator. Put in what you want the new value to be. Do not put in astronomical numbers (greater than 2 billion), otherwise it may not work. Multiply it by 8.
  12. On the Cheat Engine, double click the value(s) that are there and replace them with the ones in the calculator.
  13. If all was executed well, you have successfully hacked the game with Cheat Engine. Note that the score will change after you somehow do something in the game that will increase the score.

The regular way

It's the same thing except you don't need to multiply everything by 8.

The Rule of 8 only applies if you are using Flash 8+, Flash 7 and below have no encryption so you don't multiply by 8.
