Since some people have no idea how to do it, I am making a guide

This is not guarenteed for everyone, I have a dynamic ip on ATT

I have a modem (purchased from ISP) a Wireless Router (purchased from Ebay)
I am using a laptop connected to the wireless router, which is connected to the modem.

1) Now the first step
Start up your internet browser
should look like this



2) Login to your Modem mine is http://192.168.0.1
enter that into the address bar in your browser, this "192.168.0.1" might be different among different modems, easiest way to find out is to actually check the device, should be a sticker that says something like "modem configuration" http:xxx.xxx.x.x or something like that.



3) As seen in screenshot 2, a "restart modem" button is seen, click that, or something similar to it, (I havent tried disconnect, but it should have the same effect)

4) Next you will be promped, click "Yes"



5) Now you will be promped (if necessary) for a Modem Access Code, enter it, (it is often found somewhere on the modem



6) After hitting continue your screen should look similar if not the same as this



7) While waiting for that to finish, it is time to login to your wireless router (if you have one, if you dnt skip this step)
for my router the default login is http://192.168.1.1 this should be easily found. After login it should look like this (different routers will appear different)



Now click on "status", then click on "Ip Address release" now if the "modem" is done resetting you may now click "Ip Address Renew"



9) On some modems, you may have to "resignin" which is clicking on login and you will be prompted for the modem access code.


This is all there is to it, takes about a minute to do so.

If you can't find your modem and router's ip open up a command prompt window and type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes. I guessing this does not work for AT&T people who have a router and modem all in one from 2Wire.

EDIT: Actually you can.

Try going to http://gateway.2wire.net/MDC and pressing "Resets".

or you can open run type cmd then type ipconfig /flushdns hit enter then type ipconfig /release hit enter,
then unplug your modem power for like 5 min. then plug back in and in cmd type ipconfig /renew .

both of these methods only changes your ip in your given ip range from your isp.
