Reputation: 3 ![]() | I've had my old computer for like 2-3 years, i think -- and my friend built it so it was custom made. It has a 1.8 GHZ processor, 480 mb of ram, 150gb 5700rpm hard drive, some intel integrated grapics card (don't really use this one for gaming) and it comes with XP home edition. Now my new laptop has -- 2.0GHZ processor, 2GB of ram, 200GB 7200rpm hard drive and an Nvidia 8600GT graphics card. -- preloaded with vista home premium. I know the specs of my newer comptuer show that it's clearly better but my older one goes soooo much faster for some reason, it doesn't really lag when i use multiple big applications at the same time and websurfing is also faster (maybe thats because its directly connected to the modem instead of wireless) but any way it looks and feels so much faster, Is vista really that resource hungry of a operating system? Also have you noticed since vista came out and laptops have been getting cheaper, more and more people are shifting to laptops? Because like in the 1900's it was considered a big thing for someone to have a lappy but now everyone has one, is it just me or have the sales of laptops increased?

A computer when you buy it is full of advertisements since that is how places like best buy make more money. The first thing you should do is remove all the software on the computer, even microsoft office since the version on it is a trial. Then after all of that is off you will need to check what applications are starting up. msconfig -> startup tab if this doesnt solve your startup issues then you will need to use regedit Keep in mind you will need 2gb of ram for vista as well, but if my $550 laptop had 2gb then I'm assuming yours will. | |
