Default The better deal: Core 2 Q9300 or Q9450?

im planning to upgrade my pc with a core 2 quad core and i wonder which one is better for its price. if you think those two suck please recommend me to a better quad core.

Also im looking for a good motherboard for it too. can someone recommend me a good motherboard?

Also im planning to get it on ebay. If someone wants to buy it from ebay and relist it to get the 35% cashback, i'll buy it from you for the price you bought it for.

not necessarily, there are still several programs that are better with dual core because they weren't written to take advantage of 4 cores. but there's hardly a difference in a situation like that.

The q6600 is a rather good choice because it is cheap and easy to overclock. You can get the q6600 for roughly $200. On proper air cooling you can overclock it to 3.2ghz. But if you do get this make sure it has g0 stepping so it will run a bit cooler.

9450>6600 although the 6600 has a higher multiplier 9450 is 45nm and a 12mb cache and kills the 6600.

If you're gonna get a quad, get a q9450. If you're using it for gaming though I'd recommend getting a fast dual core instead, like an e8400 or e8500.

Keep in mind that the Q9450 is almost 2x the price and is only 0.26 Ghz more.

Q6600 Advantages: 8 Mb Cache, can get it for about 175$, Easy to overclock (good multiplier)
Q6600 Disadvantages: 65nm (not bad, but so far best is 45nm)

Go with AMD man, cheaper and better. Those processors are like $200+, you can get a better AMD for under $200. Or even get a Phenom 9950 Black Edition for only $240 which is a quad-core that has no over-clocking limits. Switch to AMD and get an AMD 780G chipset, then you can crossfire ATI cards without any adapters like nVidia, i have an ATI 2600XT thats all the Games for Windows games with no lag and no freezing. I run them with full anti-aliasing. I only have a AMD 4600+ with a 2600XT and I can play all those. Think of it with an AMD Phenom 9950 X4! Go to AMD, cheaper+better.

This is what you should do
AMD 780G - Find a motherboard with that chipset, make sure you have CrossfireX if your planning to run two 3650s at the same time
AMD 6400+ Black Edition
ATI 3650 512 MB

I like Intel better. I recently upgrade from an ATI graphic card to a Nvidia 9800 GX2. My Processor right now is an AMD dual core. It sucks so i want to upgrade to a quad core. I prefer an intel quad.

And which model do you have because I have the 4600+ and it operates amazingly. I use Windows Vista Ultimate, that's the most it'll come to when it comes to hardware if you know what I mean. You must have a very old model, because my 4600 runs better than average.
