I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop installed with vista and i want to completly reformat my laptop

The discs i have
-Operating system
-Drivers and Utilities
-Drivers and Utilities- webcam manager
-Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 DE
-Application-- Dell MediaDirect 3.3 (It says on disc to use this media before you install your operating system)

Insert the "Operating System" CD and boot from it.
There should be an option within the setup that will let you format your hard drive.
Then start the setup.

That cd sounds like it's just Dell utilities... it shouldn't be needed (even though it says you should).

put the media direct cd in after you reformat with the OS disk. it will reinstall all of the dell media stuff that came preinstalled on your computer.

you could try re-installing. If that doesnt work, then you have bad discs. You can try downloading an ISO of vista from isohunt.com or thepiratebay.com and trying reinstalling with those but since its POS dell, you might need to call dell and get another dell-only vista discs.
