OK
i have a zboard type microphone
Now when i plug it into my laptop (Inspiron 1520) it wont work but the headset does
But when i put the mic into my other computer it does work

So how can i fix my mic plug or just get the mic to work
+rep to any1 that helps

try cleaning the inside of the female mic connector. the insides might be oxidisied if you havent been using it for a long time, it reduces conductivity.

Yes, try cleaning the Input hole for the MIC
Or your mic could just be disabled via the sound manager. check that.
