| Senior Member | Some time ago, somebody spilled liquid on my laptop keyboard. The keys are all messed up, certain ones don't work, certain ones are always pushed in, etc. I've been using a USB keyboard and it works fine. The only problem I have is that sometimes the space bar or the Function keys get stuck down and it messes up Photoshop and other programs. If I open up the case and disconnect the keyboard, will the computer still boot up? I've heard differing reports on this, and I've googled it for hours without finding an answer. I read that you need an onboard keyboard that windows can recognize, otherwise windows won't load. Other places have said this isn't the case. I don't want to go through all the trouble of opening up the case if it won't solve anything. Someone help!

| Senior Member | Go for it, chances are it will be ok but you won't know until you do it. Some may be a bit picky, but I've repaired quite a few laptops of various brands/models and have never had one not boot/go into windows because an onboard keyboard wasn't attached.

Normally have to remove the upper bezel around the power button. Windows is fine without the keyboard connected. Try ebay for a cheapie |
