Ok so my motherboard is dead I can get it to work for the life of me and keeps BSOD on me and now wont boot.

The board is a M2N-MX SE which is a socket am2, the processor is a AMD X2 64 4600+.

Well we have a spare computer sitting around, Emachine 1210-01e which is bascially a slim computer and has a AMD Athlon 2650e.

Now what I'd like to do is put my 4600+ in the Emachine, the only thing is the 2650e is 45w and the 4600+ is 89w. Should that matter? There both socket am2.

So bascially:
Computer:Emachine EL1210-01e
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 2650e 45w swap-to AMD Athlon 4600+ 89w

Should it work?

I guess is depends on whether or not the power supply can handle the extra load. Usually they give you a little room to upgrade in regards to the kind of power supplies they put in those pre-made machines but not too much. It also depends on what kind of memory is in the emachine and if it can match up to handle the higher FSB of the new cpu. Also the motherboard just may not even support it.

Just a few thoughts that comes to my mind. You could always just slap it in and see what happens....

Are you sure the 2650e is a 45w part because everywhere i see it says its a 15w cpu? If it is a 15w part then id be more worried about the 4600+ overheating

@lun4tik; Yes, that's my OLD board and it's a typo it's a full atx not micro unless theres also a micro. And the board is pretty much shot I can't install anything and now the southbridge I think is messing up. The problem I'm have is finding any info on Acer DA078L Motherboard. Thats what is in the computer I will use.

You are correct it's a 15w I was looking at the wrong thing. It's not that there's anything wrong with that chip but if I have that 4600+ layin around then I would like to make use of that extra power....

2650e: Single Core, 1.6ghz
4600+: Dual Core, 2.4ghz

If its a slim PC then the psu is normally only built to handle low power draw cpu's. The HP's are like this.
I would try the cpu in the pc and see what happens, the worst case is that it won't boot, you wont damage the cpu
