Reputation: 0 ![]() cBay Rating: | My modem is starting to die on me, and I've been doing research on them from different companies. If you buy a router, is that good for just one computer? I always thought they were multiple machine connections. Also what is a good brand to use? I have a 2Wire 2701 DSL modem right now. I hate sounding like a total noob on PC things, just this is one thing I never had to deal with before and the more I search the more different answers I keep finding. So am just curious now what a good DSL modem to invest in would be. Thanks for any help.

If I were you I would get one these (unless you are on qwest dsl): Amazon.com: Actiontec GT701D Universally Compatible ADSL Modem (Black): Electronics Amazon.com: Actiontec USB & Ethernet DSL Modem: Electronics Or one these (this should work for any provider): Amazon.com: Westell 6100 DSL / ADSL / ADSL2 Modem Router: Electronics Amazon.com: Netopia Adsl 2+ Modem 10/100 En & USB Firewall Security: Electronics Amazon.com: Zoom ADSL Bridge Modem 5615 - DSL modem - external - Ethernet - 24 Mbps: Electronics Amazon.com: X3 Dsl 2/2+ Modem/router/gatew: Electronics All of those are great dsl modems and much better then what your ISP gives out now a days. |

Also you might have the call your ISP to help you set it up every so often they have special settings for the modem so that it will work correctly on their network. |

Reputation: 0 ![]() cBay Rating: | yea i agree- I had SBC till ATT bought them out. Then dad had some kind of problems with ATT and canceled them. He used Netzero at his work and liked their service so much decided to get it here at home as well. But times always change and when something happens here I'm pretty sure the phone company is where I will get the next service. They might be a pain at times but by far the best service. |
