Default New Build

Newegg.com - Once You Know, You Newegg

Getting it next month. Keep in mind it's just a botting PC, most likely used for Gomez than anything else.

Input?

Thanks go to:
-Stealth (At TC)
-Slingshot

EDIT: Rawr just added a graphics card.

Do you have an extra graphics card laying around because there's nothing to hook up to a monitor in that build :O

The PSU that comes with the case is sufficient enough. Specially since a 350W UPS costs upwards of $80 alone.

I'd get faster speed G-Skill ram. I remember getting higher than 800 for cheaper a few months ago. Then again newegg changes prices frequently. Also you wouldn't need a video card if its just for botting and as you said there is an onboard video card. Make sure the PSU that comes with the case is good, normally stock PSUs tend to be pretty bad and a bad PSU can equal all your parts becoming junk.

EDIT: I got my 650W PSU for like 60. Search around a bit more I'd say. Also would you ever consider AMD brand CPU's? You can 3.0Ghz Quad with a AMD board for around 200ish I think.

Okay I must be going blind. There IS an integrated video card? o.O Also I couldn't find much faster RAM while keeping it on the cheap. Link me if you find a pair?

Also, 650W PSU's are bad for me. A 350W UPS alone is upwards of around $80 itself and that's after the PC. And my included PSU is "Power Supply ATX12V 300W".

looks nice! You should put in like a 20gb hd since your only going to use it for botting. Just thought that might save you a few bucks.

Couldn't find any on Newegg. Least they had was 160GB and I don't feel comfortable with computer parts from eBay. Link me if you can?

I'd consider it, but I have to admit I like Intel more. No reason not to try it out though as long as AMD has comparably priced Quad Cores.

I dunno about the card. I just read your post saying you said you thought it had one. I'm too lazy to check. I'd say get a board with an onboard card. Its better than getting a junky card that just takes up space. You don't need high wattage because there is nothing really that power heavy in your build. Especially since its just going to be for botting. I don't really like the board. I'd say dump the card and get a board with an onboard video card. Find a good CPU and Mobo combo and you can save more too.

No onboard video, but it'd prob be cheaper to get one that has one than get a card.

Problem is, I like this board because of the max ram capacity and the Quad Core support. 16GB DDR2? Holy hell.

I looked around for a Mobo/CPU combo like mine but couldn't find any.

I'll gladly look at links you guys find though.

Yeah but I like the ability to upgrade in the future when I get more Gomez accounts to handle more.

Honestly, if you are gonna be getting THAT much RAM, screw DDR2 and grab DDR3 (in which case, your gonna have to swap your board anyways).

I honestly can't see you using more than 8 GB of RAM.

For maxing out the virtual machines, yeah it can chew through 8GB.

Yeah I've heard. Which is why I chose expandability.

Still looking for any improvements guys. Post links.

16gb of ddr2 ram? Lol. The only feasible way you are going to do that is with DDR3 and its really expensive. Get a CPU that can OC'd to greater than 4.0Ghz then you wont need to worry as much. But it seems this PC is a budget build correct?

The most powerful budget build I can manage right now. I'm really just trying to make a good enough computer that can do a lot of VMs for Gomez. That's my main focus, so I need a good Quad Core CPU and I need a good amount of RAM so it won't slow down the VMs.

Expandability is a plus, but not necessary, however it would vary heavily into which board I buy.
