INTEL P4 3.4GHZ BAREBONE COMPUTER + 2GB RAM - eBay (item 220483756364 end time Oct-21-09 06:04:54 PDT)

What would be the cons of this package?

All I really want to do is two things:

1.) Run Gomez peer at some point (perhaps multiple instances)

2.) and surf the web quickly (not the crappy Acer speed that maxes out at 2 gb Ram that I have now...)

I would be boosting this up to 4 gb's upon arrival and putting a wireless card in it (the apartment complex I will probably be moving into next year only runs wireless...how lame. All I want is one single lan port...) And I might put in a slightly larger Power supply.

I will probably be putting Vista 64 bit in it (I don't have the money to purchase win7 and i can snag a cheap copy of vista once it becomes the old OS

Or maybe even XP.

Basically, if that is what I want to do (with emphasis on fast internet) will this computer do the job? Or would I have to switch anything out?

Yes looks OK if you just want a basic prebuilt box. The motherboard will take dual cores as well. The ram is likey to be supplied as 2x1gb so you will have to ditch these to get your 4gb in. PSU will probably be OK.
Midi tower case so easily can fit big graphics card at some point.
The 64bit drivers are available for this board too.

Just buy a 7 key on this site, works fine.

vista can be a resource hog regardless of computer build. getting a copy of a windows 7 iso and a key from someone here could be the best bet, add this to everything you said that would be done with the system and you'll have a nice setup that runs multiple gomez and still play on the net.
