Reputation: 0 ![]() | So I want to access the internet and shop channel on my new wii but the problem is that I "borrow" my neighbor's wifi. My laptop gets good reception upstairs but my wii is in the basement. Is there anyway I can make the wireless signal stronger on the wii? I've already heard about the USB method but are there any other methods? Reps to the best answer. |

Maybe you can find a wireless extender that picks up a signal and amplifies it. Worst case just buy a cheap router? www.newegg.com tigerdirect.com clubit.com pricewatch.com zipzoomfly.com |

Reputation: 9 ![]() | if you have internet in your home/apartment/dorm/where ever you can just buy your own wireless router? They are just as expensive as that wi-fi usb key and you'll be able to connect your laptop to it as well. Hell if you know someone local who can help you then you can buy a router for $5 after rebate! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833156038 Trendnet is a pretty good company or you can opt for a better brand but it will cost you more towards $40-$50. The reviews of that router say the included software/instructions are not very user friendly, this one may not be for you. The better brands have complete step by step instructions and software. check this link for more routers with reviews: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=Up+to+54Mbps You want a 54mbps 802.11g router. (802.11b/g just means it supports both B and G, G is faster.) If you live with your parents maybe they would even pay for it as I would consider it a family investment! I can answer anymore questions tomorrow, im off for the night. |

When I wasn't tech savey (long time ago >_>) I asked about buying a router and we had one already. If you know what type of internet you have that would be helpful (DSL, Cable, Dial-up:yikes . Most likely if you have Cable you have a wired modem and therefore need a wireless router. In some cases however, more likely with DSL, you will have a wireless modem. In which case you wouldn't need to buy anything. If you end up buying a wireless router here's how you have it connected (assuming it's cable). CABLE>MODEM>ROUTER (via ethernet cable)>The computer that's currently plugged into the modem. If your confused, try to find someone you know that knows about computers and stuff to help you... everyone loves a friendly neighborhood nerd!:cal_biggrin:. Good luck!
