Reputation: 125 ![]() ![]() cBay Rating: | Let me start off by saying this. I've never built one of these fucking things in my life, I've used a macbook for most of my teen years, and now a macbook pro (in b4 overpriced crap, etc...)... But I could use a windows PC, just for botting and gaming, so I wont have to run bootcamp. If I buy this: Intel DG41RQ Barebone Kit - Socket 775, Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Retail, 4GB DDR2-800, 500GB SATA2, Mid-Tower, 300 Watt Power Supply at TigerDirect.com A) How much assembly is needed? B) What else would I need to buy? Obviously a video card, but some pointers as to which would be nice? C) Could a person who has had no technological assembly experience put it together? No Quad Core/i7 needed. Most games don't need that shit, and it's a waste atm. Blu-Ray reader is a maybe. DD3 memory isn't needed. DD2 is much cheaper. Price should be under 600? hopefully? | The CL tiger | The only thing else i can tell u to buy is an optical drive. dual layer burners are cheap. This will take some building. furst let me tell u to get another heatsyn. the core 2 duo and up stock heatsyncs suck. they pop off the board alot which can cause the cpu to overheat and fry. Put the thermal paste on the CPU. if non is included with the cpu then ur ass better go to the store and get some. When puttin the mobo in make sure u align the little spacers in the right holes. if you dont put the spacers it it will sort out and wont work and can cause damage to ur pc. u might alsao wanna get some cheap fans nothin fancy just some extra air blowers lol. as for a vid card u dont need ne thing great to run bots. and 4 gig of ram is more then good enough for what ur doin. use XP too not vista....it will run alot smoother. if u need ne more help i can help ya. Also if u order it and need step by step instructions when putting it togeth i can offer u support on the phone/webcam/or skype but i would have to install that and havent used it much.

| The CL tiger | Lol it sounds like alot but it really isnt. Also prebuilts are cool too but these are supose to be there for people that are willin to get hands on and make what they want and not let a company limit them.

They have one out right now that tells you how to make your own computer. So, here is your parts list: AMD Phenom II X4 940 ($219) MSI K9A2 Platinum AM2+ 790FX ($145) 4GB (2x2GB) OCZ Platinum DDR2-1066 ($60) Seagate Barracuda 500GB/32MB SATA ($65) Samsung 22X DVD Burner SATA w/ Lightscribe ($25) MSI HD 4850 512MB ($150) BFG 550W PSU ($55) Cooler Master Elite Case ($45) Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit ($100) TOTAL = $864 (If needed, add speakers, monitor, keyboard, and mouse of choice) Taken from here: View topic - One4yu2c's Buyer's Guide and Mini-FAQ v2.6 *Updated 3/06/09 - Maximum PC Forums Good luck. |

That processor and mobo is wayyy too much... There was a post on SD today for a decent combo for $150... save $200 there.... I'll keep the GFX card as is, in case I feel like doing some causal gaming, and thus getting rid of Boot Camp on my macbook pro, using it for Photoshop, encoding stuff, etc... I could probably cut that down to $500, plus supplies, such as thermal paste, all the screwdrivers needed, and whatever else... Hmm... I'll have to see how my $$ situation is in a couple of months. | |
