Default external hdd question

i download "home videos" from "friends and family". like HD vids. around 4.1-10 gigs each. and i stream them to my 360. but im running out of space on my INTERNAL hdd. so if i buy, say a 250Gb external hdd, can i add files/vids more than 4 gigs? i heard you cant add anything over 4 gigs. is this true?

Most externals come formated in the FAT32 format where the file limit is 4GB. You can reformat the external hard drive to NTFS and won't have a size limit then.

From what I found on Google, no. But I'm not positive. The 360 itself can't read from an NTFS device. Are the files going from your computer through your network to the 360? If so, I don't think there would be a problem.

Edited my post. The 360 itself can't read NTFS, but the computer that is streaming it can and hopefully that would be good enough for it.

Rubberchicken it would be like this:
External Hard Drive with Files --> Computer--> Router--> Xbox 360

You could also hook the External Hard Drive right up to your router, and that might work too, although I'm not sure.

i dont think it will i have 2 other drives directially on my network. one network harddrive and one going through a linksys storage link. My 360 dosent see either. one it fat and one is ntfs.

If he runs it through his computer though and then over the network then he should easily be able to do it, unless the 360 can't recognize it over his computer.
