i reinstalled windows xp after i found out that vista made my laptop run WAY too slow. i am restoring drivers one by one, but i can't get the following to work:

Base System Device
Ethernet Controller
Network Controller
SM Bus Controller

any clue why i cant?

also, i keep getting this constant error message:
bcmwltry.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 344 could not be located in the dynamic link library COMCTL32.dll

any clue what that means? i am pretty sure it has to do with the wireless card...

bcmwltry.exe is the broadcom software and it's related to the above problems you are having. Are you sure you have the drivers installed properly?

I was searching for the error message, and It is the wireless card. IS it a Dell Laptop? if so, you should be able to find the software you need to download by searching bcmwltry

Maybe there are certain drivers that run only on Vista and the hardware isn't configured for XP. If this is the case, then there's nowhere to go.
Try looking at your hardware's website. They almost always have the drivers. Unplug and plug back in all hardware (if possible).

go Start menu>Run then type "DXDIAG" and look for this:

That's the manufacturer of your motherboard. Go to their website and download any necessary drivers.
