hello i was trying to install leopard on my dell but it went horribly wrong so now i have to reinstall windows vista but when i go to choose what drive to install in it tells me windows cannot be installed to this disk the selected disk is of the gpt partition style is there any way i can format my drive? so that i am able to install vista

put an xp cd in it and get to the reformat option and do it then stop and put the vista in it and go from there...

Shouldn't your vista setup give you the option for format?

If you still want leapord, Vista does a much better job of partitioning and formatting the harddrive.

i put a cd to format the hardrive and it worked got very lucky.... thread can be closed

What specifically may have happened was the master boot record was corrupted as a result of the failed install. Sometimes you need something other than an OS disc to restore it - UBCD4Win has tools for fixing this and a lot of other problems.

Uhm.. now I haven't used a Mac before.. but correct me if I'm wrong - they need a different file system formatted.. so that is most likely why your leopard install didn't work.

If it is GPT you should the diskpart command set not the gui.
