Default Learning C#

I've decided to try to learn C#, and I wanted to see if I could get any help from you guys.

I already know Basic Java, but it is useless unless I want to make applets...which I don't. Plus C# is extremely similar is syntax and stuff to Java.

I was going to get started using this tutorial: C# Station: C# Tutorial - Introduction

It looks pretty good, in my opinion.

Do you have any tips, or tricks? Can you link me to some good tutorials? (Better than the one I am using?)

Thanks for the help!

P.S. -
How do you execute code in C#? (I'll probably figure it out...just wondering)
Should I use Visual C#?

I actually just started teaching myself C# as well. If you have any experience in object-oriented programming then picking up the syntax of C# shouldn't be too bad. The last language I learned was Java and so far the two seem very similar, albeit C# seems a bit simpler.

I've been using Microsoft Visual Studio as my compiler and debugger. Right now I'm working on a front end for an SQL database to hold some information on things that me and OG are selling.

Let me know how it goes for you. Right now I'm fighting SQL more than I am C#

That's a weird coincidence. I want to learn because the language actually has some abilities, other than making useless programs. Java is useful for the real-world...but not to make money with.

SQL seems complicated. Actually Web-Bot integration seems complicated lol.

I used the video tutorials at Visual Studio 2008 Express Editions. They're the best I've found.

SQL in itself hasn't been too bad. Getting it to work with C# is where my problem is coming in. I've gotten my application to work with SQL not too bad, and I also managed to integrate smtp support(which C# makes surprisingly simple).

I'm realizing more and more that I really like C#. I can still feel that Java had a bit more power but C# makes development so much easier than it was with Java.

I haven't been using a single tutorial website or anything, rather just googling things when I run into something I can't figure out.

You should see the book my dad has on coding in HTML. It's literally about five inches thick.

hey, ya im going to start learning C# too, mostly C# windows form applications though. I already know C++ fairly well, but I have never worked with forms, so it should be interesting.

That's about how big my Java book was.
