Reputation: 6 | Here is what a lot of people have been posting about the Nintendo conference: Nintendo wanted to give third-party developers a chance to shine. Third party Wii games include de Blob, Mad World, The Conduit, Monster Lab, couple of JRPGs, Megaman 9.... Pikmin was just confirmed via Miyamoto to be in development so we should see that soon. The only thing I got super pissed about was no core game from Nintendo and no hard drive support... and that shitty-ass microphone... I'll continue to play my PS3 until The Conduit and de Blob comes out. |

Reputation: 17 | G4's feed sucked. Go to IGN. I'm pretty disappointed with the conference. Nintendo usually announces some really cool stuff at E3, but it was mostly crap. That Wii MotionPlus shit should have been in the Wiimote from the beginning. Animal Crossing was the only real strong point, can't wait for that shit. And Reggie can go suck a fat cock.

I point my attention towards MOTHER3, the last game of a lovable series (MOTHER, MOTHER2/EarthBound, MOTHER3) that hold a fanbase so large and demanding, Reggie himself admits he is "being bombarded by MOTHER fans" That's not a smart business plan.

EarthBound actually did get released fortunately, and they hyped it up quite a bit, the thing came in a huge box with a free strategy guide, and scratch n' sniff stickers, one of which you could have sent in to Nintendo, and if guess the correct mystery smell (pizza), they sent you a Mach pizza delivery guy car air freshener one of which sold for $1000+ on ebay two weeks ago. But really, nobody liked the game or would buy it's successor. NoA considered EarthBound a flop because it didn't sell very well (didn't meet their expectations compared to the sales in japan). But that is partly due to their horrible marketing. The fucking slogan for the game was "THIS GAME STINKS!" That's just destined to be a platinum seller right there! Now MOTHER3 has pretty much no hope for an official localization since GBA is apparently dead to Nintendo. You know, because DS's don't have some sort of slot to stick GBA games into or anything stupid like that! Fortunately for the entire fanbase, there's a fan translation project which has come a long way and actually looks better than what Nintendo would produce (EarthBound suffered a good amount of censorship for American audience, no doubt MOTHER3 would also). These hackers actually care about the game, so they have been keeping faithful to the original context. There's my VERY brief and very broken history on the series. And I definitely recommend loading up your emulators and playing the games, at least EarthBound. It''s unfortunate, the summer playthrough at Starmen.net just ended yesterday though. I hate to point at Sony for a good example, but Nintendo of America should take a look at how well the PS2 is STILL selling. Reggie makes Mr. Saturn cry.
