A modded xbox 360 (the ones your thinking of at least) are xbox 360s which have their dvd drives flashed with (most of the time) ixtreme firmware. This allows you to play any burned game (make sure its stealth patched) on your xbox 360.

To get games you can download them like any other warez. You want to run your games through a scanner which would be ABGX 360 so that you won't get banned on xbox live for running burned games.

Essentially if your game passes check by ABGX 360 you won't get banned from xbox live.

IF YOU DO get banned because of playing a burned game your WHOLE XBOX 360 is banned not your account. meaning if you want live again you have to get a new xbox.

The chances of getting banned though, if you use the right precautions, are slim to none.

If you want to RIP a game you need specific drives just read this thread. You can do it with your normal DL dvd drive in your computer. But it required hotswaping.

I love my modded box. I don't rip the games personally, but I bought a Megashares.com account (6 months for $25.) It's unlimited downloading unlike RS and can upload up to 10GB files. I have 20 games (All at least 7 GB) downloaded within the last 4 days. I keep them on my external just in case a disc goes bad or I feel like playing them.

You want to download abgx360 like dragonz mentioned to double check things for yourself before playing.

And can you sum up what I would have to do, exactly, to borrow a game from a friend, burn it using my computer, and play it without getting banned on a modded 360?

Dual Layer is what DL stands for. This is because XB360 games are too big to fit on a singular 4.7gb (though they're are some games) so you must use dual-layer dvd's.

I'm going in to the hotswapping method right now, it's too much work.

As the above posters have said, there are ways to verify the dvd is 'stealth' and as such will not get you banned. I cannot say it's 100% but as they've said, it's slim to none. The safest way is to never play them online. IE: Don't play a burned copy of Halo on LIVE, etc.

And the reason the 'entire system' gets banned instead of just the Live Acct is because 'very similar to the xb1' the Eeprom is what is blacklisted, not the actual console. The eeprom can be replaced (bought off someone who does work on them and gets them out of unbanned consoles, etc) it's much more tedious than on the xb1 though.

DL = Dual layer

First you flash your drive, then you take a game, and hook your 360 drive to your computer and if you have a benq or samsung you just a program check, done.

If you have a hitachi dvd drive you can't get the steal with it and you gotta either hotswap with your computers dvd OR buy a what he said above me. (pretty sure u can get them cheaper to)

It's worth it even if you mess up on a game and don't check it and get your xbox banned. Buy a new arcade for like what? $200? and you still save more than that if you've burned at least 4 games.

Would I need a dual layer burner? Or just dual layer dvds? lol. So, the best thing to do is get the kreon drives, right?

I never really thought of it that way. $60 a pop and 4 games is $240. So, it's actually cheaper to get an arcade model each time you're banned.

So, you have a greater chance of being banned when you play the burned games on Live? That's all I would be doing so that is what worries me.
