When you put the game in the tray, make sure it doesn't start. if it does, just wait till its done loading and go to the dashboard.

Then...

make sure the disc is in the drive, once again...

For the record, and so you know (though I'm sure you do) you cannot play the game via the hard drive without the retail disc in. Otherwise it'd req modification, etc.

In my experience, it never did shit useful. In fact, certain games would give disc read errors (odd huh?) ONLY when the game was copied and played via the hard drive... It made no sense.

Cheers.

The load times are slightly faster and the Xbox is much quieter. I hate having to adjust the volume on my TV just so I can hear the game.

Did you try to re-rip the game?

I re-ripped many times. It wasn't the games, all my games were in perfect condition. It even did it on rockband which was 100% brand new, never used or played before. I can't really find a reason for why it did that. Anytime I'd go to 'make a setlist' it'd give the disc read error, after deleting it from the hard drive, I could play any song no problem, make any setlist no problems. It was just odd.

It's more quiet, yes. But that other symptom I cannot explain. FTR Halo 3 runs worse on it (as stated on bungie) and GOW2 as well (at least from what I was told by my buddy). He said campaign loads faster but it increased hang-times during matchmaking (though GOW2 matchmaking I've heard is ridiculously slow as is).

Edit: Gotta love your avatar for the record. I've still got the DC, and I doubt I'll ever get rid of it... CURSES the damn broadband adapter for being expensive still!
