Then turn on the router first, then modem, and then your PC. If that dosnt work then someone might be using your wireless connection. Make sure you set up a WEP encyrption connection for your router. If its still slow make sure to check to see if anything else on your computer is taking up the internet like windows update or a download manager. It may be that you have a virus that is stealing the internet. Also if you have dial-up or DSL, depending on how far away you are from the ISP, it may just be as fast as you can go. Plus on dial-up and DSL you may get slow speeds if your neighbors are online. If you know you have cable internet then you might need to check with your ISP and make sure you have the fastest speed they offer. |

| Senior Member | The first thing I would do is find out what your connection speed is. Do this by checking your records or calling them to see. Then go to Speedtest.net and compare the speeds. -If the results are much slower than what you connection should be, then you know you have pc or router issues. -If the results are similar, you have to options. Steal someone's connection or buy faster service.

If you have DSL then you won't get speeds over 2-3mbps (.25-.375MB/s) which is what your second speed test implies although the ISP is still sprint. Do you have another computer you could test your speed on, just as a comparison? |
