Reputation: 63  cBay Rating:  |  Looking for cheap hosting for music and videos I have several 100's of GB's of movies and music on my external harddrive. I would like to put that on the internet, mostly for myself, a few friends, and maybe for people as trades and stuff. Not necessarily a huge website (way too dangerous..?). I've been looking for the cheapest solution...any ideas? What are the laws regarding music and movies on the internet, i.e. what if i was to upload them but never give out the link (so only for myself as storage space), and what are the laws for giving the link, etc. just fill me in, in general, on doing this shit thanks |

Reputation: 11 cBay Rating: | uhm. you can do like another website i know, and use a webhost stationed in the netherlands, because supposedly they dont have copyright laws?? idk. try there. that site has been hosting cracked apps for iphone and vids and music for a while now, no complaints from host ever.

| If you were to upload them simply so you could access them from another location, there would be nothing illegal about that. As soon as you distribute the link, you're technically sailing the seven seas, if ya know what I mean.

| im not sure about laws or anything.. but if you are planning on just using it for yourself, look into online storage.. if you want it for your friends then i have a real good site 4 u but 2 get it cheap you need to pay for 2 years upfront.. it has been online a while so I wouldn't worry about having to pay for that much upfront: Web Hosting:IX WEB HOSTING:Best Web Hosting Site:Webhosting Provider you get unlimited bandwidth and storage for only $4 per month.. that is really very good but the letdown is that you have to pay upfront for so long.. |

Reputation: 63 cBay Rating: | well i dont wanna pay that much...so if it was just for me, could i do 1and1.com hosting? like can you use web hosting as a server, since its cheaper?..and if i dont distribute the link, but maybe several accounts for the web hosting ftp folder, and distribute the accounts, there is no way they would know right? and do webhosters like hostgator and 1and1 look for videos/music and delete it? would i have to rename the movie files to abbreviations and stuff? this is what im looking at right now: http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/MsH...op&__lf=Static the first 3 months are free so its a good deal |

| on 1and1 you have to signup for a 12 month minumum to get the first 3 months free plus you have to pay a $9.99 setup fee so you are going to pay a good bit anyway.. how much are you willing to pay for hosting? i have another site that is pretty good if you are willing to pay at least $7 per month: https://securesignup.net/portal/aff.php?aff=2807 that is unlimited storage, bandwidth, everything for only $7 per month.. or $3 per month will get u unlimited storage, and 300 gigs bandwidth.. it's pretty good but the 300 gigs bandwidth on the $3 option is kinda sucky for music.. |

Reputation: 63 cBay Rating: | well my options are the 1and1, or adrive (probably not cause its not that much space) or other web hosting sites.....panda that site doesnt seem totally legit, + the unlimited disallows backup content (*Unlimited disk space, traffic and domains is for regular website content, for example backup archives etc. are not allowed.)..? so can you host large video files as web hosting? and brill, what do you use for your sites |
