Thumbs down airline miles really worth it!!

i was checking out american airlines and its only 40,000 tickets for a trip from los angeles (LAX) to france!!!! thats over a 1000 dollar value!!!! its 80,000+ tickets from cub live but if you have multiple accounts that makes it go much faster and if you only have one its still 10+ dollars for every thousand tickets from club live

http://www.aa.com/aa/reservation/awa...&_locale=en_US
^^ you can check how much it would cost for a flight p.s maybe it was so cheap for me because i was trying to find a flight almost a year ahead

If you are traveling to another country it is worth it, but if you are traveling from state to state it's not as good of a deal.

Where do you see 100k? The only 100k from LAX to NRT would be a business class saaver award after October 1. It's 50k for a coach saaver off-peak, 65k for a coach saver on-peak, and 120k for a coach anytime.

For anyone looking at ticket amounts, remember some saaver awards are snatched up a year in advance for peak times. I suggest budgeting the worst (Aanytime award) and then if you find a saaver award you can consider it a half-price sale.

I've heard people have ordered FF miles from a long time ago and haven't received credit to their accounts.

Just checked my AA account and I ordered 100 a long time ago to test it out and they are in my account.

EDIT: PIC

From LAX to Narita its 50k economy class one way and same the way back. This is in late October. I've done the same with JAL, but American Airlines sucked flying from CA to NY. So I can't imagine flying 14 hours with AA.

Look again. That's round trip, off peak, saaver award you're looking at. They don't do one-way awards (well, they do for the same price as RT).

All miles expire if there is no activity on the account. AA is 18 months. Unless they go out of business sooner.
