Default Limit on No-Receipt returns?

I went to CC to try to return an item (non-CL item), and told me that they had exceeded the amount of returns/exchanges they can do (or something like that).

Does any1 know how this works? Because the item was about $200, I think I'll have an even harder time trying to return Office.

All I said was "I got this as a gift, but it is not supported by my computer. Can I exchange it?"

I don't know how that works but have you tried other stores? Office depot was fairly easy for me.

Well I heard at Best Buy its a limit to 1 return a year.

I tried a second CC store, and they told me "We don't do returns or exchanges without a receipt." In my head I was "WTF!!!"

I need to do it at CC because it is the only store that have that item in store.

Most stores have 3 non-receipt-returns per year... Best Buy shouldnt have any... Walmart and Fred Meyer have 3... Im not sure about anywhere else.

I am not talking about that limit. I have never returned anything at CC.
It seem more like a budget limit on returns.

Circuit City are nazis when it comes to returns they are just like target hard to return anything without receipt what item are you trying to return. find somewhere else that has it.

Keep in mind that any policy for a store is NOT necessarily universal. So just because someone says that their Best Buy took something does not mean that your local one will. Local managers are always free to make their own policy on things like that. And even those local policies can change from month to month, or week to week or even day to day.

It was actually a gift. My friend does have the receipt, but he is out of town and won't come back until the end of the month.

I wanted it to change it before the item went past the 30 day period.

I know they can. I was going to tell them the receipt number, but my friend did not have the receipt with him. Why would he take it on the trip?

Either way, I was just curious about this policy. My problem should be solved when he comes back. Just need to wait about 2 weeks.
