I got my Canon camera today (no shipping e-mail, ordered on the 29th...11 days after I got a shipping email for my camcorder which still hasn't come.) and there was no plastic wrapping on the box.

Anyone else who got the Canon have this? I can't tell if the box just comes that way or not. There is a tiny tear in the flap, but I honestly can't say if I did that when I first opened the box. I bought a camera last Christmas and though it had no plastic around the box, it was closed MUCH tighter and I think had a sticker sealing it shut to show that it had not been opened.

The accessories were still sealed in their bags. The camera itself was not, but I don't think it normally is. But I would think the box is better sealed than that. The camera seems fine, so I am not all that upset over it, but it is a little strange.

That is how Canon camera boxes are manufactured, unlike brands like Sony and such, they don't ever seal the opening with tape. You can always just open up the box, but all the invidual components inside should be sealed (usually battery you can just take out of the plastic though, and I think the chargers the same way). The camera is always as you described.

did you order in july? cuz i ordered 7/24/08 and still haven't gotten it, no shipping email? did you have to sign cuz i'm not at home right now (vacation) and i don't know of they tried to drop it off or not. thanx.

I ordered on the 29th. But remember...I don't use any bots that spoof anything. I use Anagramssolved autotyper...so I have never waited more than 2 weeks for a prize. I got no shipping e-mail for this. It just showed up. I don't know if it was a signature required since I was there and obviously they have me sign for it no matterwhat. I would expect that it IS a signature required item, since the wireless controller is.

Oh, and for those wondering if they should spend the 40,000 tickets to get it...if you want/need a camera, then YES. It is a REALLY nice camera. Best camera I have ever had. the lens in incredible. I took shots of a sunset, and a lot of times, even with expensive cameras, the colors do not come out as vibrant as they look to the naked eye. But with this camera, the colors were exactly as they were for real. And the video feature looks great too. In decent lighting, it is really just as good as a cheap to medium priced camcorder. (Though you'd want at least a 4 Gig SD card if you wanted to use it for video)

And the size is perfect. Easily small enough to fit in a pocket, but not so small that it is awkward to hold like a lot of pocket cameras.

And the unexpected benefit of the size is that it is almost the same exact size as the Zune. So the little cloth pouch that comes with the Zune is perfect for the camera.

This camera is a pretty damn good quality camera. So I would have to disagree with your post.

So is my Ergonomic Keyboard/mouse. And Zune. And everything else I have gotten, They are of high enough quality that more people would not normally buy them for themsleves otherwise. I know I would never spend over $200 on a camera. Or almost $100 on a keyboard.

I bought a Canon SD1100IS directly from Amazon brand new, and there was no tape to remove and no plastic seal around the box. The stuff inside were all sealed though.

I used to work for Canon back in 07' with Fred and I can say that most refurbished cameras are shipped that way.

I'm sure your camera is new. Like Kira said, that's how they come. If everything inside was sealed I wouldn't doubt it's new. I think with refurbs they have to be marked somewhere on the unit as such anyway.

Congrats on the great prize, I'm going for that one myself.
