Ok, so first off here a few tips to remember when you are returning prizes: Returning prizes is never a guaranteed success, so your attitude will play a big role on your success or failure. Always always write down the name of the person you talked with over the phone, especially the mangager's name because that is the most important piece of information you can use. If they ask how you got this, you always say you got it as a gift, and you don't know the person well enough to ask for a receipt. If they ask for a phone number, again they didn't give that information to you, and all they gave you was the gift.

Calling manager or customer service lady transcript:

Lady: Hello, circuit city (___), office depot(___), best buy, etc.. how may I help you today?

You: Hi, I had a question about your return policy may I speak with your manager?

Lady: Ok hold on one second.

Manager: This is Bob the store manager how may I help you.

You: Hi, I was calling about your guys return/exchange policy. I got a 360 controller, keyboard, webcam, headset, etc. as a birthday gift, and I wanted to know if I could exchange it for equal value. Its still sealed and unopened and I wanted to know if I could just exchange it for something else in the store.

Manager: So, do you have a receipt?

You: No, unfortunately I got it as birthday gift, and they didn't give me any kind of receipt or anything, but I never opened it.

Manager: Ok, well how about their phone number or credit card information, maybe we can look that up.

You: Ahh, yeah I think they would get mad at me if they found out I was returning it, so Id rather not bother them, could I just exchange instead.

Manager: Well if its unopened, we might be able to exchange for something else in the store at the lowest selling price in the last 30 days.

You: (Accept this proposal because there is a neat way you can still get a gift card doing this.) Yeah sure, Ill just pick out something of equal value in an exchange. So who am I speaking with again?

Manager: This is Bob and Im the store manager and ill be here till 5.

You: Ok thanks Bob, Im gonna come in right now and ask for Bob at the customer service desk.

Now back to the exchange proposal. If you already have something in mind of equal value go ahead and just pick that out and go on about your business. But if you don't want to be stuck buying something right away, just go ahead and pick something for equal value in the store anything at all as it doesn't really matter. Now once you have exchanged it, they will give you an actual receipt about the transaction. Now you are golden, because you can just drive to another store 5 minutes away and return it with the receipt and they will give you a gift card. So in a round about way you can still get a gift card, just do a little more work. But manager is more likely to accept a merchandise exchange the same day, because that way he sees as though hes still selling something from his store and making a sale instead of giving out store credit. But if you just ahead return the swapped item with a receipt you accomplish the same goal either way. This is just for small items, if you want a script for office just msg and Ill help you out.

If they give you a gift card, they are still making a sale. So it makes no difference whether they give you a gift card ot you make an even exchange. Not financially to them, anyway.

Yeah, but most managers in their train of thought, want to do a merchandise exchange for some reason, because they feel better at night knowing that I just swapped a webcam for a router or something of that nature.

so you mean if you successfully returned an item in office depot (example) and exchange it for an item with the same value, you can exchange that again to another different store?

That shit seems plausible. Let me know though guys if you think it'll work.

Honestly you can't really write a script for this type of shit. It's all improv. Read the guy your dealing with and bargain with that dumb motherfucker. And if it don't work, then call yourself weak and try again the next day.

in regards to the question about returning an exhcanged item: Think of it like this simple math problem.

Club Live Prize = A
Gift Card= B
Exchanged Item = C

Ideally we want swap item A for item B straight up, but thats not always possible. So what you do is trade Item A for Item C. Once you get Item C with an actual receipt, you can go return it to another store for Item B. So in a round about way you traded Item A for Item B.

can u post a script for office 2007?

this is so sick! i returned my office 2007 using this method!thanks vcdplaya! +karma!

what i did is i call stores and use the script, then i got one that actually agree with it, then i said to myself i need another one just to be sure, then i got another store that accepts it! woah! so earlier this afternoon i went to store1, boom, got my store credit right away! the cashier was a bit hesitant because the id i presented was my passport, and not a US passport but a foreign one. lol.

now i need a way to get a ps3 out of this store credit.
