| Senior Member | So yea, tomorrow I have an interview for a temporary part time job at Macy's for Retail Early Morning Merchandise Team Associate; I think it's a group interview since the e-mail states there are 2 other people attending the interview besides me. Is this different from any other interview? I normally wear a polo and dress pants. Is that good? or should I wear something else? Also if anybody else has had an interview with macy's please tell me about Macy's interview process |

(They recently merged with Bloomingdale's...just a little bit of useful info for you) You'll fill out some paperwork, and they will call you back each individually for a personal interview. If they like you, you get called again by the department manager from the department you'd like to work for. They then interview you, and if they like what they see, you get called again, or, offered a job. Just use your common sense when answering their questions. They will ask you a lot of cust service stuff more than anything else. And also about your work ethic. How many times were you late, missed work on your last job, etc." |

They will have a group of you go in and then they'll see how you all work together (team skills are needed for retail), they will talk about how important teamwork is (once again, teamwork is needed for retail), and then they'll talk about how "great" the store is, yatta yatta yatta. They won't just talk about the position you applied for, they will talk about ALL of them, because working retail you WILL be working more than one position in a given shift. (don't believe me?, next time you walk into a retail store, watch how they re-act, nobody stays in one department, once you leave the "interview" you'll have a whole new look) A polo and khakis is totally fine. I wouldn't sweat it too much, they will know from the get go if they want you or not, don't bust your ass over the position, there are other places out there. Good luck. |
