I'm with At&t and I want to buy a G1 off eBay and unlock it. Does anyone know if I need A Data plan?
ATM I have a Blackjack II and an ipod touch. In order for me to buy a g1 I need to sell both. Do you thinks it's worth selling my iPod over?(I don't care about my phone)

Just so you know, the G1 doesn't support AT&T's 3g network. So your internet would be really slow.

edit: This site tells you how to activate it on AT&T: http://www.androidauthority.com/inde...android-phone/ If you are going to use it for WiFi only, I wouldn't think you would need a dataplan from AT&T. They wouldn't see you using any data, you know what I mean?

My sister has a G1 and the battery life sucks big time try getting the MyTouch if all touch screen isn't your thing then try getting Motorola CLIQ or the HTC Touch Pro 2.

If you can get the thing activated yourself without having AT&T do it, you should be fine. If you're using wifi, then your account won't show you using any AT&T data. Make sense now?

Cuz i keep track of things on my phone and ipod so i need a Smartphone, and also i good texting phone and a phone with a touchscreen i was gonna get the ATT Tilt but i want something more upgraded that wont set me back that much used.

You need a data plan, your not gonna get around that.

I asked around and they said with ATT Im not required to have a data plan as long as I have some sort of Internet connection(WIFI)

I'm only getting the phone and the charger as far as I know but that's really all I need. I have a USB cable to fit and all I have to do is buy a sd card and headphone plug when I sell my old phone
