Hey, I recently got a MicroSD for my R4, and I was wondering if it was possible to get ringtones onto a phone without texting. I have a Verizon phone, and I know they're really anal about that stuff, but there must be a way. Anyone know?

Tried, phone couldn't connect. Unless you have Verizon, you don't know how anal they are about not letting you get music/texting on your phone. Its ridiculous. They have horrible service too, unless you have a phone that cost at least 100 bucks.

May be a bit too complicated, but Rogers wouldn't let me put ringtones on my Shine so I "hacked" them on through BitPim.

It works for my phone, by dropping them my_sounds folder, in the SD card root directory. Then going into sounds and choosing "Set as ringtone"

I'm gonna try that after I edit the part of this song I want out into a single file.

Nevermind, doesn't seem like there's a way without texting. I hate Verizon so much... Maybe I can convince my parents to get texting...

Get a microsd card reader. They're like $3 or something. You can easily make your own ring tones with audacity. Just get a mp3, make it only 30 seconds long, and for some phones you have to lower to bit rate. Then save as mp3 and put that on your microsd.

Yeah I already have a few ringtones premade, but unless you have Verizon, you don't know how much protection they put on this stuff. You either need texting to text the ringtone to yourself attached to a picture, or buy it. Also, all my music is at 128 kbps, so I don't think I'd need to lower the bitrate.

Lol verizon sucks when it comes to ringtones now. They use to allow programs like xingtones and others to download straight to the phone but they locked them down so tight now it requires u to mod the firmware to just get a few of the features u should get!!

They won't even let me set a song as a freaking alarm, it has to be a ringtone...Verizon is one of the lamest companies in the world.

I had the same problem with Alltel. What you do is find your phone in bitpim, find the folder "dload" and delete lg_mysound.dat (make a backup first). Then you transfer any song you want to the folder brew>media>lk>ms. Now you're done. Just turn off your phone and turn it back on. Since you have a different phone than me, the file lg_mysound.dat might be a little different, but you should be able to find something very similar.
