Default I just need damn virus protection

Ok, so I got a new laptop from my grandparents for this summer program, blah blah blah

point is, I want virus protection for it, and i want it free..so far I tried AVG, kaspersky, and mcafee

AVG worked but the keygen didnt
kaspersky wouldnt worked cause AVG was on it (even tho i uninstalled Avg and deleted all its folders)
mcafee wouldnt install, but it seems to be on my computer now (not the protection, just the security center thing, i cant seem to uninstall that part tho)

so I need virus protection..if someone could provide me with a working download link with a keygen, etc. or just some help

thanks

Windows Security Essentials. Beta version is out. Try it, it is just awesome. Uses very less resources and is efficient too.

I really like Norton Gamer. The one armman said I also like but it has been buggy. I have kaspersky on my dad's computer because it's easier for him to use

Use a restore point to go back to a time before AVG and install one of the other programs.

I hear that, works real nice and currently using less than 50mb of ram (the antimalware service takes up most of it).

A lot of virus' can infect the time machine things. So the virus will just follow you back. But here are a few good AV's to try.

1) Avira AntiVir Personal-Free Antivirus
2) Eset Nod32
3) Norton 2009

It won't get rid of anything (files, pics) but the changes (settings) you made to your computer.

I've never understood the need of virus protection (at least installed virii protection that is). I've always been 100% fine with a good firewall (proxy firewall is my fav), and online-based-scanners like trendmicro and virustotal. I've never, I repeat, Never had a nasty infection. We've all got the occasional blah-blah temp files, but never anything executed, no bad services, etc.

Get Pskill.exe, fport.exe, proxy firewall, hijack this, and you're fine for life imo.

advanced users like use know what we're doing , so we dont really need antivirus.

Old people on the other hand dont know what they are doing and are easily fooled into downloading things
