OK, I have a 16GB 3G S and an 8GB 3G. Could I unlock either of those? And how?
Also, to jailbreak the 3G one, I'd use redsn0w, right?

EDIT: The phone says "No service" in the corner. It doesn't say "AT&T" (people said locked phones say ATT). Can anybody tell if this is good or bad?

You first jailbrake it, and then use ultrasnow to unlock it. Google man!

The 3G S you cannot currently do anything with.

You can unlock the 3G, there's no Unlock for the 3GS yet. Uhh,
follow this : (Taken from iPhone Dev Team's Blog)

Ultrasn0w for iPhone 3G is ready!

   1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
   2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
   3. Run Cydia or Icy
   4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy.  That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”! If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
   5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
   6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
   7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
   8. Enjoy

Install 3.0 on the iPhone 3g.
Run redsn0w making sure you add either cydia or icy.
Do what was said above.

Yeah, do what he said. And for the 3GS, the jailbreak/unlock should be out soon. The dev team is just perfecting it.

I perty sure they're locked for att. Both of mine had att sim cards in them. You're getting no service because you dont have an accound with att

I thought it was a good thing because if you have no service, you can get any service? Thats the way I thought.

If it says no signal it just means that you have no signal with the current sim you have inserted. If you have an att sim card entered but aren't getting service then maybe it is because you haven't activated or jailbroken it yet? idk for sure

You misunderstood me. I never put a sim card in... It says no service and I'm wondering if that means it's already unlocked, because locked phones should say AT&T in the corner. Mirite?

If there is no sim card inserted, it is supposed to say no service not at&t. It does not mean it is unlocked....

have you popped the sim card slot out with the small tool that they gave you. There's an att sim card in it. All U.S. iphone will have one

Your getting no service because you dont have an account set up with them. It doesnt matter if there's a sim card or not. Why would you get service for something your not paying for?

Here's another way to see if you have a sim card

Click the settings icon

Then look for the green phone icon. If there is no sim card in the phone, itll say "no sim" in a light gray text next to the icon. The icon is unclickble

If there is a sim in it, you can click on the phone icon to go into the phone settings. Itll give you a bunch of Att options.

Yes, it should say No Service if you don't have a SIM in there. It won't say AT&T because the iPhone works on a bunch of overseas carriers, o2, T-Mobile (over seas only) and some others. It's not only an AT&T phone.

It should still be locked to AT&T. You just have an issue with signal/your sim card.
