Reputation: 80     |  Google's browser - Chrome Google Inc (GOOG) plans to launch a web browser called Google Chrome in a challenge to Microsoft Corp's (MSFT) Internet Explorer, the Wall Street Journal reported on its website on Monday. The browser launch is likely to be announced soon, the paper said, citing unnamed sources. Google did not immediately respond to calls and emails seeking comment. Google Chrome is designed to make it easier and faster to browse the Web, by offering enhanced address-bar features and other elements that are very different from those on other browsers. The product will be open-sourced, meaning others can modify the code, according to the report. Google has been working on the product for about two years, but work became more serious when Microsoft launched Internet Explorer 7, the Journal said. Google outlined the features in a comic book which appeared on the Google blog. The project is open-source. You can read about it here.

Reputation: 62 | I would love to see how Google tackles a browser. I have loved all Google products to date, and this should be no different. At very least, open source means an unlimited source of caches which is always good in the cheating world.
