Alright, so, you know, people are always excited to go to college because of super kick-ass internet connections....

This is Labor Day weekend. Judging by how empty the 1 cafeteria that's open out of 4 in my complex here at Michigan State has been, I'd say that 75% of the people here went home for the weekend.

God, why the fuck did I come to the University that houses ***THE MOST*** people on-campus in the United States? Fuck me.

Tried to play Xbox Live, and was red-barring in Halo 3 the whole damn game. Fuck this shit. Well, the RIAA and the MPAA must love it. Nobody could pirate anything here if they wanted to. >__<

I am wireless, but the distance between my router and my laptop is all of 2.5 inches. Should NOT be a big deal.

it does make a big difference for me. Wireless, i get about 20,000 kbps. Wired, i get about 45,000 kps. Sounds like your being capped

the wifi all around campus has about that speed. It sucks...but my roommate has cable internet so we get like 20Mb/s

It makes perfect sense that they would cap each login at a speed that is reasonable for educational purposes but allows for a large amount of people to be on simultaneously without choking the network.

Sounds to me like your university/college is on a DSL connection with normal broadband speeds. You're just experiencing slower speeds because it's not cable.
