because u get proper ventalation for both side standing it upright will block off ventalation from one side of the console..
as for the cooling fans add on no you won't need one anymore since all consoles are falcons not meaning that it's 65nm/95nm chip set instead of the old 95/95 plus the heat sinks have been redesigned for more proper cooling
